Okay...there's this girl I've liked for...almost two years now (damn I'm pathetic) I never really asked her out until only recently. At first, I wasn't sure if I was allowed to do any dating yet, and was too embarrassed to ask the parental units. When I got the ok, I'd either chicken out, or she'd have a boyfriend. So this February I was thinking of asking her out on Valentine's Day, but the problem with that was, that if by some miracle she did say yes, she'd be gone the next week, on a trip to Italy. So I waited until a week after she returned, and then asked her if she might want to see a movie that weekend. She replied that normally she would, but she was really busy at the time (the school play, dance, after school chorus, etc.) So at first I thought she was telling the truth, that yes, she would go out with if it wern't for the after school activities. Then after that I began to start thinking that maybe she had come up with a convenient excuse so she could say no, but not make me feel bad. Now, I just have no clue. The play's over and everything, so I'm wondering if maybe I should ask her out again. Thing is I've come to 3 possible conclusions about her excuse:
a) it was just a convenient excuse so she could say no and not make me feel bad
b) She didn't realize I was asking her out when I asked her to a movie. Maybe she thought I just wanted to hang out (doubtful)
c) she really probably would go out with me, especially now that the play is over (really doubtful)
I think I'm going to talk to her best friend to get a better idea of what I should do. One of the reasons I'm hesistant about asking her out again, is I don't want it to seem like this:
John: Would you maybe want to go out with me?
Jenn: Not right now.
John: ...
Jenn: ...
John: How about now?
What do you think I should do? Ask her out again? Or just forget about it?
